The BalanceBIKE by Prince Lionheart is the logical choice in a first bike for your young rider. Young children have trouble peddling, they just don't have the ability to master this motor skill as early as we expect them to. What they are able to master are balance, steering, and coordination - all prerequisite skills to pedaling a two-wheel bike. Why not encourage the development of the skills they are physically ready for and help them develop their self-confidence at the same time?
The BalanceBIKE:
Teaches young children balance, steering and coordination
Is a great transition from ride on toys to a pedal bicycle
100% birch wood frame
Height adjustable, padded seat
Solid rubber handgrips

Why I Love This Product
A big kid bike designed for the skills and abilities of little boys and girls!
The BalanceBIKE is encouraging my son to learn how to ride a bike at a very early age because he is able to develop the skills required to use this bike. If I tried putting him on a tricycle at this stage of his development, he would likely get frustrated - frustrated with not being able to peddle it around and frustrated because what he wants is a big boy bike like he sees everyone else riding.
The BalanceBIKE by Prince Lionheart gives my son the ability to ride his big boy bike, while helping him to master hand-eye coordination, balance, and steering. Now when he gets his next bike in a couple of years, all he will need to do is throw peddling in to the mix.
The other thing I love is that this bike takes out the purchase of a tricycle completely, saving me money in the end. My son can ride this balance bike until he is around 5 years old. A tricycle would last him one, maybe two summers at the most.
Finally, the wheels on this bike are the real thing. 12 rubber tires with an inner tube makes tire maintenance inexpensive and as easy as it is for my own bike! The knock-off competition bikes use wooden tires or solid frame tires ... making maintenance of them more difficult ... and more expensive.
